Need to port in a number and an at least $50 monthly plan to qualify $99. Phone can be unlocked after 1 year's service. Endup paying $50x12+$99 = $699/year. similar plan in othe carrier with your own device is around $25. You actually pay $25 X 12 + $99 = $399 for the phone andstuck wit i for a year.

seems you wouldn't have to pay for all 12 months of service, though, right? just first month activation? then unlock 1 year later? value of device for future trade in or resell or someone else use on other carrier?
(I'm still trying to find all details to confirm)

why? of course you can port out after the phone is unlocked (60 days after activation. Straighttalk should be unlocked after 12 months.
