Did you get the phone? I placed the order on Jan 3rd, but it never shipped out via Fedex even there is a fedex track number. The fedex shows that they never receive the package from Cricket. We got LG 5G in the store today, with current plan. No extra line needed. But need to pay 30 bucks assistance/upgrade fee, was told the fee would get waived if we do online. The monthly payment of phone and promotion credit will cancel out for the next 24 months billing period.

That is how T-mobile stores (independently run) work. Stores charge $30 activation fee for activation and upgrades (may waive if your buddy works there). And the phone is free to upgrade for qualifying accounts. I got 8 lines (they are free).
