Total Wireless does allow use of LTE iPads. Only way I ever found to get them to work though is by first activating a phone with a Total Wireless SIM card in it, then changing devices to the iPad LTE with it's own Total Wireless SIM card. It won't work trying to move SIM card around, Total Wireless pairs the SIM card to the device IMEI.

MINT uses t-mobile network and they don't have strong coverage in California. I tried them, not even close to Cricket (AT&T).

just buy, min + data already in the card, TracFone company isn't so good at customer service but their products are easy to use. all can be done yourself online.
