Actually, I'm using the 3a now and I have both the nano sim and the esim activated and both lines are up. And I can get text, call from both lines without doing any manual switch. Based on what I read, it says Dual SIM Dual Standby should work with 3G/4G voice/data simultaneously if carrier of the SIMs supports it. pay a bit more and get 4a 5g from Best Buy. It's superior in every way. Dont go for Pixel 5 though. All you get is 2GB and waterproof for $300 more.

Because you need to have voice service on your phone to use the app on your phone to make and receive calls.
