Actually Seagate , Hitachi, Samsung are the worst..Had them before and all failed. Haven't had issue with Wd. I have the 8TB version, $139 when I got it. It's fantastic. I'd agree with the previous poster tho, if you only need 4TB get the Passport model. No powersupply, much smaller.

WD fail very quickly. There is no way to recover. Because, they fuse circuit board with usb port and also ROM designed for that model only. One must have same board and swap ROM chip (hot gun swap).
One word, once WD fails, data will never be recovered.
