Be careful with TP-Link. Comes from the same place as Anker Eufy cameras, and you probably heard the news about Eufy lying to customers about the security of their camera footage. Very unethical.

Anonymous

Need a TP-Link account to setup the camera.
To be fair, most others using Phone Apps also need account.

people are finally wising up to this stuff. can't trust them. //@Anonymous: Be careful with TP-Link. Comes from the same place as Anker Eufy cameras, and you probably heard the news about Eufy lying to customers about the security of their camera footage. Very unethical.

Pretty much none of these things are "safe" and unhackable these days no matter what brand. Just buy what makes you happy and works well. This is a good price for a basic camera that can give you a bit of sense of security if you have package thieves or creepy neighbors. I have several Kasa switches and plugs which work very well.

The problem is not that they're hackable. Anker promised not to save user videos, like it was in their terms, but they did it anyway. No doubt TP link is just as unethical. Comes from the same place. //@Anonymous: Pretty much none of these things are "safe" and unhackable these days no matter what brand. Just buy what makes you happy and works well. Was it FUD when people said to be careful about Eufy security cameras by Anker? Oops, turned out they were right and the threat was real. You cannot trust these companies. Making a comparison with Japanese cameras is nonsense because Japan has honor and ethical standards. //@anonymous: it's called FUD(fear, uncertainty and doubt). An old tactics companies and politicians use to eliminate competition. IBM was well known for using FUD. It is used now because US companies
can't compete and US companies run US govt. If a camera is a national security, Japanese companies have total dominance on cameras since 1970s. There are also tons of other action cameras and drones, why target only the #1. Because they can't compete. GoPro tried to make drones and it can't make it and now its stock price is junk. //@anonymous: I work for a cybersecurity firm. We know a threat when we see it. //@anonymous: Your work is the junk, not the product. //@Anonymous: This is True. At my work, we are restricted from buying DJI.
