The Japanese and Korean made ones are preferable because you can trust they didn’t use substandard parts or dangerous materials. //@anonymous: Zojirushi's manufacturing facilities in China, Korea, and Japan are all held to the same standards so it is not necessary to mention where they were made. There seems to be a strange cope being spread that Japanese models are better build quality, but Japanese don't have access to strong metals as well as Chinese models.

Made in Japan is really not a selling point given the nuclear accident happened years ago. If you are a smart buyer, you will avoid anything made in Japan.
