Southwest has had $29 one way sales. If you dont want to avail, dont but it is probably the only airline which kept to some long term domestic flying standards. 2 free check-in, food on the flight etc etc. They did have issues this holiday, but every body has ups and downs..

$49? from where to where?

This is a very common "deal". nothing major. I do like their 40% off deals. They are usually on MOST flights. The $49 sale doesn't apply to all routes. I went through their website, I'd say 75% of the routes are NOT part of this deal.

Book the sub 100 fare, then get stuck somewhere for a few days, and finally receive thousands in flight credits. If you plan the stuck part well, you can net a free vacay!

So, SW has had problems. All do. Let's get it behind us.
I did check few round trips and did not see the 49$ rates. Where are these 49$ flights going from/to?
