1), M1 is super fast with no heat. 2), Mac is very efficient in using memory. I am a programmer converted from PC to MAC ~ 10 years ago, never look back. Of course, I bought a MacBook Pro, but I got a M1 MacBook Air for my son, he is very happy about it.

Previous gen M1 processors are a better value and should be more than sufficient for 70-80% of all users. If anything, Apple has bad marketing. No professional user is going to buy the MB with low specs, and no average user is going to spend $1.2K+ on it either. They should have significantly lowered the price, or not have an option with 8GB RAM/256GB storage.

Maybe a MAC RAM is different from a PC RAM, but both have one thing in common - they cost money. So less is more profit. //@Anonymous: Apple's RAM is different from a PC. It uses Unified Memory that's on the same chip as the CPU so the ram is multitudes faster and far more capible than normal separate system RAM.
