If 256G was not a single module like M1 Air, this is a great choice, but since it is not, go either m1 air or m1 pro, depending on your needs. I got both, one for my daughter and one for me, and yes, I tried M2 256G and M2 512G, but the former is slow, the latter is too expensive compared to its capability.

My gripe with the latest MBPs are Apple's strategy of soldering RAM and SSD to the motherboard thus making upgrades impossible. 1), M1 is super fast with no heat. 2), Mac is very efficient in using memory. I am a programmer converted from PC to MAC ~ 10 years ago, never look back. Of course, I bought a MacBook Pro, but I got a M1 MacBook Air for my son, he is very happy about it.

Previous gen M1 processors are a better value and should be more than sufficient for 70-80% of all users. If anything, Apple has bad marketing. No professional user is going to buy the MB with low specs, and no average user is going to spend $1.2K+ on it either. They should have significantly lowered the price, or not have an option with 8GB RAM/256GB storage.

I have an MBP Late 2011 with macOS High Sierra and the AirPods 3 connects just fine. //@anonymous: It’s worth noted that these will only work with ios 15 and up. If you choose to stay on ios 14 then it won’t connect, same with mac connectivity - work with os monterey and up.
