Apple built a lot of genius ideas into these watches. For example, they have all the features of a full-size wall clock but packed into a tiny wrist-sized form. I personally think apple tags are useless for all practical purposes. It is at best works if it is in the same room as your phone. You move to a different location with as minimum as with 2-3 walls it does not work. With the M4 chip, Apple set the machine base memory is 16GB - no more 8GB. Something is about to change in the next few years that caused Apple to make that decision.
Apple machine is not cheap. You may have spend above $1K to buy a machine that can be crippled/excluded to future updates because of the hardware limitation. And there is no way to upgrade the memory, storage to bigger capacity on a Mac If you definitely have to buy a Mac, get the 16 GB memory.

Our economic is more fragile //@anonymous: Apple claims to be an environmentally friendly company but continues to release 8GB laptops with tiny SSDs, neither of which can be upgraded.
Why do they do it? Well they know these devices won't last very long because the OS and apps quickly use over 8gb leading to ssd being used as ram(virtual memory), making ssd die prematurely from repeated writes to same location. Thus, they can be fairly certain many of these users will need a new laptop in 3-5 years. Not only that but as other's mentioned, they also can make 16gb the minimum for mac OS in ~2-3 years from now and all those users won't be able to upgrade. At least then they'll finally stop selling 8gb models by then ... which they've been selling for the last 20 years or so.

8GB is not enough. It is very possible in the next 2-3 years Apple will not allow iOS update due to not enough memory .
Here is the comment from XDA.
By setting the minimum memory requirement for Predictive Code Completion higher than what base-model Macs offer now, Apple is effectively admitting that 8GB isn't really enough. Even if it is enough for today, it certainly won't be enough for much longer.

I prefer a littler bit more bucks for a CE version. It’s much slimmer and faster, plus rechargeable, last for more than 3 months everyday-use with one full charge.

The fancier the better //@anonymous: ACT/SAT tests only need a simple regular calculator.

I paid over 100 for TI 83 over 25 years ago. I'm surprised it hasn't changed much since then. //@Anonymous: I paid about $100 on it when I was in college .... 10 years ago. If you factor in inflation, the price here $76 is actually pretty good. I'd get one if I need it

Do I need the extra warranty for these?

How can Moore's law apply to PCs but not to calculators? //@anonymous: Inflation in this year alone will be over this number //@anonymous: 6.5% inflation is better than many other market segments right now //@anonymous: It's 76 last year. 91 this year

TI is a semi company, they have all kinds of chips. //@Anonymous: with the chip shortage, this should go up in price even more. the chips inside these things probably 20 years old, who has that anymore?

I don't know how TI made the list of "qualified calculators for tests", but surely its a sweet deal for them. Year after year, high schools kids have to buy them. To me the tech on these calculators are kind of ancient, and any $5 app on the smart phone can beat it easily.

for ACT test, you would need TI-84 plus CE:) //@anonymous: Is this good for high school student? it seems too much for me. I prefer a simpler one.

I teach college math. Ti83/84 is a must.

We disprove how the TI controls the market and had refused to buy one for a long time. On the other hand, I’m so glad that I ordered one a couple weeks ago. My 9th grader was able to use TI during his math test right away! I often pays just as much for a Cross fountain pen anyway!

If your engineering students are going to take PE exam(s), please read below: "To protect the integrity of its exams, NCEES limits the types of calculators examinees may bring to exam sites. The list of approved calculators is reviewed annually.
The following calculator models are the only ones acceptable for use during the 2020 exams:
Casio: All fx-115 and fx-991 models (Any Casio calculator must have “fx-115” or “fx-991” in its model name.)Hewlett Packard: The HP 33s and HP 35s models, but no othersTexas Instruments: All TI-30X and TI-36X models (Any Texas Instruments calculator must have “TI-30X” or “TI-36X” in its model name.)" //@Anonymous: I am using a Ti-84 Plus CE from several years ago. Previously, I used my Casio to get my Ph.D. degrees. But, I will never go back to Casio again. TI is fantastic.
BTW: I teach college-level engineering mechanics. TI-84 plus is good enough for most engineering courses, but I will recommend a newer/higher version.
