It is with an older 12th gen CPU. The CPU has 12 cores/16 threads and its overall performance is still very good though The integrated Intel Iris Xe video card is kind of weak. Generally speaking, this laptop is good for folks who want to a 16" portable lightweight laptop with good computing performance.

7200 rpm for a NAS drive, which WD Red is technically designed for, is almost an oxymoron. Unless you are on 2.5 Gbps setup, a 5400 rpm drive will effectively use up all the network bandwidth on sustained read/write. If you care about burst read/write speed, then why bother with a HDD on the first place.

This is such a ridiculous remark. There were 4 channels in the previous 16 gb models (4gb*4). Now Apple wants to save money and started using 6 gb unit. So the 18 gb module only has 3 channels (6gb*3). The memory bandwidth is worse then M2 equivalent models. //@anonymous: Triple-channel ram. 3x6gb sticks = 18gb. Different cars have different gas tank size because they have different MPGs. But a full tank of gas will let you drive similar distances with different cars (excluding hybrids). Don’t the connectors on these break or developed issues very easily? I have a 4TB version that doesn’t get recognized unless the cable is held at a very specific angle and pressure.
