With the M4 chip, Apple set the machine base memory is 16GB - no more 8GB. Something is about to change in the next few years that caused Apple to make that decision.
Apple machine is not cheap. You may have spend above $1K to buy a machine that can be crippled/excluded to future updates because of the hardware limitation. And there is no way to upgrade the memory, storage to bigger capacity on a Mac If you definitely have to buy a Mac, get the 16 GB memory.

Our economic is more fragile //@anonymous: Apple claims to be an environmentally friendly company but continues to release 8GB laptops with tiny SSDs, neither of which can be upgraded.
Why do they do it? Well they know these devices won't last very long because the OS and apps quickly use over 8gb leading to ssd being used as ram(virtual memory), making ssd die prematurely from repeated writes to same location. Thus, they can be fairly certain many of these users will need a new laptop in 3-5 years. Not only that but as other's mentioned, they also can make 16gb the minimum for mac OS in ~2-3 years from now and all those users won't be able to upgrade. At least then they'll finally stop selling 8gb models by then ... which they've been selling for the last 20 years or so.

8GB is not enough. It is very possible in the next 2-3 years Apple will not allow iOS update due to not enough memory .
Here is the comment from XDA.
By setting the minimum memory requirement for Predictive Code Completion higher than what base-model Macs offer now, Apple is effectively admitting that 8GB isn't really enough. Even if it is enough for today, it certainly won't be enough for much longer.

I don't know how TI made the list of "qualified calculators for tests", but surely its a sweet deal for them. Year after year, high schools kids have to buy them. To me the tech on these calculators are kind of ancient, and any $5 app on the smart phone can beat it easily.

If your engineering students are going to take PE exam(s), please read below: "To protect the integrity of its exams, NCEES limits the types of calculators examinees may bring to exam sites. The list of approved calculators is reviewed annually.
The following calculator models are the only ones acceptable for use during the 2020 exams:
Casio: All fx-115 and fx-991 models (Any Casio calculator must have “fx-115” or “fx-991” in its model name.)Hewlett Packard: The HP 33s and HP 35s models, but no othersTexas Instruments: All TI-30X and TI-36X models (Any Texas Instruments calculator must have “TI-30X” or “TI-36X” in its model name.)" //@Anonymous: I am using a Ti-84 Plus CE from several years ago. Previously, I used my Casio to get my Ph.D. degrees. But, I will never go back to Casio again. TI is fantastic.
BTW: I teach college-level engineering mechanics. TI-84 plus is good enough for most engineering courses, but I will recommend a newer/higher version.

7200 rpm for a NAS drive, which WD Red is technically designed for, is almost an oxymoron. Unless you are on 2.5 Gbps setup, a 5400 rpm drive will effectively use up all the network bandwidth on sustained read/write. If you care about burst read/write speed, then why bother with a HDD on the first place.

oculus go sucks but oculus quest is game changer //@Anonymous: I spent $300 on the previous version, Oculus Go. Used it after I bought it. It was very slow and got very hot if you use it for 5 mins. And 64G space gone after a few downloads.
Next time I try to use it, told me I mus switch to FB account to use it. The third time I tried to use it, it was dead (won't bootup anymore). Hardware issue. Out of warranty.

Right, why spend $299 when you can pay Apple $3,499 for almost the same thing... (with all the extra tech Apple bragged about, the endgame is pretty much the same functionalities with different user interface...) //@Anonymous: Don’t buy it!! Waste your money and apple new vr is way batter than this!!

No it isnt. Begone shill. Oculus is the best in the market. Apple are barely copycats trying to get into any market they can before people realize the Apple brand is useless. //@anonymous: Don’t buy it!! Waste your money and apple new vr is way batter than this!!

Resolution is way below 8K. //@Anonymous: I had been using this since 2020, once in a while. Never felt great and fun about the games. Resolution is bad, modeling is bad, shooting game is not as comparable as fortnite alike. Only thing I enjoyed was watching those short 8k VR videos on youtube.
