If 256G was not a single module like M1 Air, this is a great choice, but since it is not, go either m1 air or m1 pro, depending on your needs. I got both, one for my daughter and one for me, and yes, I tried M2 256G and M2 512G, but the former is slow, the latter is too expensive compared to its capability.

7200 rpm for a NAS drive, which WD Red is technically designed for, is almost an oxymoron. Unless you are on 2.5 Gbps setup, a 5400 rpm drive will effectively use up all the network bandwidth on sustained read/write. If you care about burst read/write speed, then why bother with a HDD on the first place.

People complain that storage is too little. They complain that there is too much storage. Moral: people complain. //@anonymous: No more 128 Storage now, its would have been of Apple make starting Storage model as 128. Apple is greedy. Making consumers to spend more on what they don't need to spend on storage.
