For iOS integration and features offered because it's part of the ecosystem, it works great. Sure there are better watches for specific needs ie. You may be using wrong battery. You need 2032 battery -- 2025 battery also work in powering it up but the capacity of 2025 battery is way smaller than 2032 and it will drain super quickly. //@Anonymous: Eats up battery quickly. Replaced batteries within 2 weeks.

I personally think apple tags are useless for all practical purposes. It is at best works if it is in the same room as your phone. You move to a different location with as minimum as with 2-3 walls it does not work.
