I personally think apple tags are useless for all practical purposes. It is at best works if it is in the same room as your phone. You move to a different location with as minimum as with 2-3 walls it does not work. There's no protective film over the camera on Macbooks. The camera is simply terrible when compared to the selfie camera on a phone.
