i bought three 4tb and two 2tb of them as a photographer, i fill them on a daily basis....2tb are dead, didnt even make it 6 months, before files went missing or corrupt. two of the 4tb developed same issues just took 9-10 months....sandisk replaced them all, and i sold the new ones they sent me. changed over to a usb-c nvme enclosure and nvme drives, no issues. //@Anonymous: Just because most people bought 2TB version. Why don't you change the rules in western countries? //@anonymous: We were not allowed to use any calculator (even simple shopkeeper’s) in 9th-12th grade, we did PDE, curves by hand.

It’s not about competency of the teachers. It is about TI having an anti-competitive stranglehold on testing. //@anonymous: It's not about competition, but about the competency of teachers. There are apps on cell phones that can do exactly the same thing with the exact same interface. However, cell phones are not allowed in classrooms. With my original ps5, a dumb step that worked to stop the lag was leaving the TV on WHILE I played on the portal. Since I bought a ps5 pro, I no longer have any lag issues. //@anonymous: I don't think it's dependent on internet connectivity. Wi-Fi, I believe, is more important. I have one, can't live without it. That being said, lag is an issue. It's almost certainly not even bandwidth dependent. It can be frustrating, but most people can find a solution. I get brief lag for about 1-2 seconds, which can happen either every minute or two, or maybe once in 30 minutes. Reading up on it, this is extremely common. Jsyk

I think they’d never make that again since no one is developing games for a mobile platform outside of phones. PSP/vita and ds games were mobile only games whereas even the switch lite plays full switch games. I think this if fine as an accessory esp since it’s the same price as their elite controller and people were pumped about that. For my purposes I picked up a refurb steam deck from GameStop for about 30 bucks more, installed chiaki so I can stream from ps5 and heroic launcher so I can play my free epic games, and can still play most steam titles and emulation

Anonymous

i think the point they are making is that the vita is a $250 full-fledged portable console while this is a $200 screen and controller that cannot operate away from your $400 console... it does kinda seem like a step backwards in technology. //@anonymous: So what? //@Anonymous: Reminder that the Playstation Vita was $250 USD during release in 2011 (equivalent to $348 USD in 2023), a system which alongside having the ability to stream games from both the PS3 and PS4, allowed you to play native games and use it for other purposes like web browsing, mp3 player, emulation, etc.

Anonymous

This is not even the REAL portable device. Its merely extension of your PS5 console. It wont work without your main PS5 console. Thats why the price is $199. Tbh, its ridiculous stupid. the device have to stay within the perimeter of your wifi & your PS5 console. It looks cool etc, its not the real portable device. Thats my 2 cents.

Can PlayStation Portal™ Remote Player only be played on my home Wi-Fi network?
While your home Wi-Fi network represents a great option to use PlayStation Portal™ Remote Player because you have control over the quality of your own home Wi-Fi, it is not required. PlayStation Portal™ Remote Player can also be played wherever you have access to broadband internet Wi-Fi with at least 5Mbps for use*. For a better play experience, a high-speed connection of at least 15Mbps is recommended. If you are using public Wi-Fi, be aware that the quality of the internet connection may be out of your control, and could impact the quality of your play experience.https://direct.playstation.com/en-us/buy-accessories/playstation-portal-remote-player //@Anonymous: With all due respect, are you absolutely sure? This is counter to every description I've read. You have to be on your home Wi-Fi, according to Sony. I figured there may be a tricky hacker-man way to play remotely, but it doesn't appear to be intended. //@anonymous: Negative. you can play anywhere as long you have a Wifi connection and your PS5 is in Sleep. The portal will wake up your PS5 from Starbucks Wifi! //@Anonymous: As a father of two tiny people, this is a godsend so I can play without hogging the TV. But make sure you look into it before buying, it's very limited. Only works only home wifi, NO BLUETOOTH FOR HEADPHONES, only wired headphones will work unless you pay $150 or $200 for their two new headphone options. The old Pulse 3D headset I already have won't even work. Some disappointing lack of features for sure, but again I am still very excited to get one for my personal situation

Even when you send these in for repair or battery, they just dispose of them and issue a new pair. Basically the cost to repair/refurbish is not worth the cost of the item. I don't know how TI made the list of "qualified calculators for tests", but surely its a sweet deal for them. Year after year, high schools kids have to buy them. To me the tech on these calculators are kind of ancient, and any $5 app on the smart phone can beat it easily.

We disprove how the TI controls the market and had refused to buy one for a long time. On the other hand, I’m so glad that I ordered one a couple weeks ago. My 9th grader was able to use TI during his math test right away! I often pays just as much for a Cross fountain pen anyway!

If your engineering students are going to take PE exam(s), please read below: "To protect the integrity of its exams, NCEES limits the types of calculators examinees may bring to exam sites. The list of approved calculators is reviewed annually.

The following calculator models are the only ones acceptable for use during the 2020 exams:

Casio: All fx-115 and fx-991 models (Any Casio calculator must have “fx-115” or “fx-991” in its model name.)Hewlett Packard: The HP 33s and HP 35s models, but no othersTexas Instruments: All TI-30X and TI-36X models (Any Texas Instruments calculator must have “TI-30X” or “TI-36X” in its model name.)" //@Anonymous: I am using a Ti-84 Plus CE from several years ago. Previously, I used my Casio to get my Ph.D. degrees. But, I will never go back to Casio again. TI is fantastic.
BTW: I teach college-level engineering mechanics. TI-84 plus is good enough for most engineering courses, but I will recommend a newer/higher version.

With the M4 chip, Apple set the machine base memory is 16GB - no more 8GB. Something is about to change in the next few years that caused Apple to make that decision.
Apple machine is not cheap. You may have spend above $1K to buy a machine that can be crippled/excluded to future updates because of the hardware limitation. And there is no way to upgrade the memory, storage to bigger capacity on a Mac If you definitely have to buy a Mac, get the 16 GB memory.

Our economic is more fragile //@anonymous: Apple claims to be an environmentally friendly company but continues to release 8GB laptops with tiny SSDs, neither of which can be upgraded.
Why do they do it? Well they know these devices won't last very long because the OS and apps quickly use over 8gb leading to ssd being used as ram(virtual memory), making ssd die prematurely from repeated writes to same location. Thus, they can be fairly certain many of these users will need a new laptop in 3-5 years. Not only that but as other's mentioned, they also can make 16gb the minimum for mac OS in ~2-3 years from now and all those users won't be able to upgrade. At least then they'll finally stop selling 8gb models by then ... which they've been selling for the last 20 years or so.

Apple claims to be an environmentally friendly company but continues to release 8GB laptops with tiny SSDs, neither of which can be upgraded.

8GB is not enough. It is very possible in the next 2-3 years Apple will not allow iOS update due to not enough memory .

Here is the comment from XDA.

By setting the minimum memory requirement for Predictive Code Completion higher than what base-model Macs offer now, Apple is effectively admitting that 8GB isn't really enough. Even if it is enough for today, it certainly won't be enough for much longer.

Lol, why does Apple sell 16GB, 32GB models? //@anonymous: 8GB and 16GB M chip Mac have no performance difference, YouTube has a lot of performance test on 8/16 gb M? Mac’s.

It is OK, it is for Apple users. If Apple don't give them 16gb, they won't need it.
