The price was $449 after price-match and there is 5% in-store Cashback from third party Cashback website, plus credit card has 10% back up to $25 offer (chase). Combined almost $100 off. I tried to use smartphone a couple of times but found it much worse compared to standalone GPS. Also I tried a half dozen applications for navigation and all of them useless. Standalone GPS is only device I can feel comfortably during driving. //@Anonymous: Are people still buying this?

It's called "Off line" map provided by Google map on your phone. We did download offline maps and used iphone everywhere around Arizona and Utah without any issues. If 256G was not a single module like M1 Air, this is a great choice, but since it is not, go either m1 air or m1 pro, depending on your needs. I got both, one for my daughter and one for me, and yes, I tried M2 256G and M2 512G, but the former is slow, the latter is too expensive compared to its capability.
