absolutely. they did it to me and paypal wanted to cancel my account because i was disputing the charge. stay away. it's a scam! //@Anonymous: I have a question. If I use paypal to pay for freedompop, they still can charge me automatically without noticing me?

By anonymous on 02/17/2018, 12:47 PM EST
This company charged me but did not send me the SIM card. It even refuses to refund me.

By anonymous on 02/17/2018, 12:13 AM EST
I bought one for my son. It’s ok. You need to cancel the top up option cost you $5 and you will not be charged anymore. The text and phone reception is not steady but they have free 100 mins for international service which is great.

Stay away from FreedomPop, it is garbage. The wireless is not reliable at all. You may get the call after a hour delay. You will get the a lot charge with no reason. I canceled FreedomPop and use H2owirelessnow.
It is not free, but it's services is much better than FreedomPop. //@Anonymous: It says in the title. //@Anonymous: Are 1000 texts and 1000 minutes per month or per year?

I am planning to sue this scam company through BBB. Who is with me?

Spot on! Use fp for over 3 yrs and not one charges. Their phone service isn't reliable, but the hotspot works great!! //@anonymous: I have been using FP for over 1 year. No issues so far. You have to follow some tips to disable some services and avoid over usage. //@anonymous: Seriously, staying way with FP means stay away with tons of troubles. They will charge from your credit card for credit balance, and then expire it after a month, then charge it again next month... Just an example, they are working hard on that kinds of things every while.

Used fp for over 3 yrs, the phone service (GSM) is very umreliable! But their hotspot works really well. Most people got hit by fees mostly can't read, cause all the fee are listed clearly when I signed up.

I am using their new gsm 4g service. //@anonymous: If you are using a Sprint CDMA phone, you need to update its profile / PRL to get Sprint-level call quality. //@anonymous: very bad call quality, dont use it as primary line, it will be extremely frustrating. the company also does very shady practice to get money from you, for example, they purposely expire your credit balance every month.

By anonymous on 02/16/2018, 11:58 AM EST
It sounds like the surprise charges have a lot to do with over-the-limit usages. So if you can manage your usage (voice, text, data) carefully and constantly, you will be fine. Many people don't like this, but others may not think it's a big deal. Quality wise, if it's the latest GSM plan, it uses ATT network, which is fine.

By anonymous on 02/16/2018, 11:53 AM EST
Bad company, charged me without telling. When disputed, took them months to refund the overcharge.

By anonymous on 02/16/2018, 11:46 AM EST
Stay away this is crap.... if you would plan to move to free service they will charge $15 ..

By anonymous on 02/16/2018, 11:44 AM EST
bestbuy is better.

I do 3 things to ensure I never get surprise bills: 1) on my phones I set monthly data limits that are slightly below my FreedomPop plans' monthly quotas; 2) on the FreedomPop web site, I disable "automatic top up" whenever possible, although not all plans let you do that; 3) I reactivate my account credit every 30 days.

I have tried their service. The signal quality was not so good. dropped phone lines all the time when using their cellular data service to make phone calls (yes, you have to have access to wifi or cellular data service).

By anonymous on 02/16/2018, 10:31 AM EST
I don't think FP is that bad. I think it should work for user with low usage demand or use as backup line.
I don't recommend it as primary line. //@Anonymous: Keep away from this company!

By anonymous on 02/16/2018, 10:30 AM EST
That is true. When you use FP you need to be very carefully monitor the usage. However the overcharge is PAYG and the rate is still decent. //@Anonymous: If you are not monitoring your account very closely you get a surprising BILL.

By anonymous on 02/16/2018, 10:27 AM EST
The current GSM version works much better than the CDMA version. If your area has decent AT&T coverage then it should work fine. //@Anonymous: I was use it 3 years ago, give up, very very low voice qulity, give me a lot hard time, my area is city urben, keep away from them.save your time

Would you please elaborate the rules, and the scenarios of the surprise charges? Thanks a lot. //@Anonymous: You just need to familiarize yourself with FreedomPop's rules. I was hit with a surprise charge once, shortly after signing up for service 2 years ago, but after that I spent a couple minutes to learn their rules and haven't been surprised again.

With the latest updates and integration with dialer, there is much less chance to miss calls. The gsm version runs on AT&T, very good reception. //@Anonymous: what rule? //@Anonymous: You just need to familiarize yourself with FreedomPop's rules. Even the free service is very stable. As long as you know how it works, it is good as backup. //@Anonymous: Worst reception ever.

scam carrier. Charge without any notice. Charge randomly //@anonymous: scam carrier. Charge without any notice. Charge randomly //@anonymous: Not true, this particular plan uses AT&T's network. I have it and reception is really good.
