4 years ago I paid $260 for an Xbox one S which came with a 4k disc drive. I play games in 1080 and can watch 4k movie discs. So I don't understand why $255 or $299 for a disc-less series S would make any sense. But then again I am old and believe in physical media instead of paying monthly fee to stream.

They aren't talking xbox1 s they are advertising xbox SERIES/S very different console it's the next generation of xbox albeit the driveless sibling of the xbox Series/X. These names have cause too much confusion for many. And with the chip shortage older xboxes are worth more than we paid for them to start with, weird!!
