I have the M1 and also the first generation (2018). I honestly cannot tell the difference -- there are very few Apps that take advantage of the M1 power. That said, who knows about the future. Perhaps monster apps will come out in 2025? But then you will probably surely want to get a new Ipad. If budget is a concern, I'd go for a used 2018 for even less -- really same function. The only exception is if you care about the front camera -- the 2021 has a wide camera and it's great for facetime/zoom. //@Anonymous: either this one $699 of the second gen $599 ? any idea which one is worth

apple ipads and iphones haven't changed much over the years. New one is always better but they are not worth the prices sky high Apple is asking ... any old one is good enough for all most all purposes.. no big reasons for latest and greatest are that Apple's marketing is selling

Just got one this morning through Apple education store, with free back to school AirPods for the same price. And I also traded in my old iPad. I that’s a better deal. //@anonymous: That is no XDR display. //@anonymous: 11" has M1 but no Mini LED //@Anonymous: My bad, 11" does have the M1 chip.
