With too many phones costing up upwards of $1000, Google has proven that you can get most of the same functionality for a fraction of the cost.

The Google Pixel 4a and Pixel 5 support nano-SIM and eSIM, but both smartphone are not dual-SIM, meaning you can't use two phone lines simultaneously. //@anonymous: dual sim?

Actually, I'm using the 3a now and I have both the nano sim and the esim activated and both lines are up. And I can get text, call from both lines without doing any manual switch. Certainly, you have to choose in the config which line as the data line. //@Anonymous: The Google Pixel 4a and Pixel 5 support nano-SIM and eSIM, but both smartphone are not dual-SIM, meaning you can't use two phone lines simultaneously. //@anonymous: dual sim?

Too bad it's Google doing it and not a trustworthy company. Better than Facebook or Huawei, I guess, but still not ideal. //@Anonymous: With too many phones costing up upwards of $1000, Google has proven that you can get most of the same functionality for a fraction of the cost.

The Pixel 4a is the new budget camera quality leader — but it doesn't stop there. It has a larger screen than the 3a, but in a still-compact body, and is filled with solid specs and really good battery life.

It's not a perfect phone as it doesn't have the bells & whistles of the flagship Galaxy & iPhone but probably good enough for 95% of the population.

Do you mean using both voice lines simultaneously? Which dual sim phone can do that? Pixel help center says "If you have a Pixel 3a or later Pixel phone, you can use two SIMs: one physical SIM card and one eSIM. You can choose which SIM to use for which action, like messaging or calling. This option is called Dual SIM Dual Standby (DSDS)." //@Anonymous: The Google Pixel 4a and Pixel 5 support nano-SIM and eSIM, but both smartphone are not dual-SIM, meaning you can't use two phone lines simultaneously. //@anonymous: dual sim?

My use case is one SIM for pre-paid voice, another SIM for prepaid data. //@hpdw: Do you mean using both voice lines simultaneously? Which dual sim phone can do that? Based on what I read, it says Dual SIM Dual Standby should work with 3G/4G voice/data simultaneously if carrier of the SIMs supports it. Maybe I read it wrong but that is what I understand it. //@Anonymous: My use case is one SIM for pre-paid voice, another SIM for prepaid data. //@hpdw: Do you mean using both voice lines simultaneously? pay a bit more and get 4a 5g from Best Buy. It's superior in every way. Dont go for Pixel 5 though. All you get is 2GB and waterproof for $300 more.

not a bad deal, you can use it without the other screen as a cheap version of G8 ThinQ. Or you can just buy the V50 version which supports 5G.

Not just "GSM only" but even for ATT and TMO the signal would suffer a bit due to missing bands.
