it's 3G for whole year, no matter how much you use in one month. You could get refer code from someone to register tracfone rewards in 30 days when active line. depends on the refer code, you could get 5K - 8K points, 1K to redeem for 1G data. Used them a few years ago for my daughter's phone. It is not unlimited. They shut down her account for a few days because they felt she was abusing the service with talking too much. This happened several times. Could be they changed their ways. But look into it before you buy.
