Make sure you place your 250 in one single order... i made a mistake and ordered the 200$gc first. Now i cannot place a second order for 50$ because there are no discover reward points left. So got only 40$ discount:(

First, don't cash out all rewards, because if the promotion comes back again, and you're still eligible, you won't be able to make it work without at least one point.
More importantly, you don't earn cash back when you apply points on the purchase. You can simply apply one point, put the rest on the Discover card, then you still earn at least 1% cash back, which is $2.5 on a $250 purchase. If you wish, you can redeem your rewards to offset your balance. //@Anonymous: Thanks. Cashed out my discover reward points for BB gc

I purchase like this:
1. load $199.98 amazon gc with a 5% cashback credit card (e.g. Chase amazon), this takes effect immediately
2. add $250 3rd party gc to the cart and checkout
3. choose paying with discover card but use only 1 point, i.e. $0.01, then $50 off will apply immediately
4. now you have $199.99 left to pay, apply $199.98 amazon gc
5. now you just have $0.01 to pay with discover card
In the whole process, be careful don't load amazon gc more than $199.98 or you face the situation that you're gonna pay all the amount ($199.99) with your discover card which gives you only 1% cashback. Why is it like this? Because if you pay rest amount $199.99 with a gc, then you will be unable to pay with discover card since gc covers all the amount and the gc can't be split. It turns out that you won't be able to get $50 off unless you pay all $199.99 with your discover card.
However if you really mistakenly load amazon gc more than $199.98, e.g. $205 or you already have gc balance more than $199.98, there is still a way to resolve it. First subscribe a small product with price just a little bit over $5 and pay using gc. Then you will find that you have only about $199 gc left. Now follow the steps above. After you successfully place the order with discover card, unsubscribe and cancel the previous $5 order (since this is a subscribe order, it's guaranteed that you can cancel it). This is just like you split the gc and have $5 left as your gc balance.
Good luck and enjoy your promotion. //@Anonymous: First, don't cash out all rewards, because if the promotion comes back again, and you're still eligible, you won't be able to make it work without at least one point.
