We went through our share of this Crane humidifier. You almost need to treat this as a disposable humidifier. It will fail between 2 to 3 years.

Don't waste your $$$. These toys lucky to get you 5 city blocks in real life... even in Joshua Tree national park where it's flat and barren. Get the real 2-way radios that are rated by watts not "miles". 4-5 watts should be pretty decent.
