I don’t really understand Google strategy here. If they want to sell more phones, then just don’t limit their products at Google store only. I know you can buy them from Best Buy and target, but that’s through Verizon channel. Not everyone wants to switch. Nexus 6P is a good example. You have more choices when it come to where to buy.

The Verizon model will work on all operators. At the Google pop-up store in October, they actually sold the Verizon SKU. But I get your point. //@Anonymous: I don’t really understand Google strategy here. If they want to sell more phones, then just don’t limit their products at Google store only. Does anyone have a screenshot of the home mini promo page? Contacted google and the rep said that the offered ended on Dec/15th. I remember clearly it was valid when I placed the order.

Nest. Not much usefulness with live streaming only, unless you pay Nest subscription cloud recording service. Better off with something else.
Pretty much forcing the service on you and you have to pay that high price for the equipment. It's like paying $200 for the cable box and pay for the monthly fee to watch tv.
Cable tv and home security services offer free equipment to try to get people to pay for them monthly service.

Just 3hr may not be enough, after paying this kind of money, I expect to be able to view/review videos at least after a day or two and/or be able to record to local medium. //@anonymous: The motion alert and 3-hrs replay are free.
