Buy the 5 year warranty. My Samsung Washer's seal leaked and corroded the ball bearings on the tub causing it to seize up. The repair man was like "If you don't have a warranty for this just go buy a new one because it's a $500 repair." Very common with these Samsung machines and probably all front loaders. Thankfully I had purchased the 5 yr warranty (and for my Samsung 4 door fridge too b/c the ice maker has been repaired once and calling them again).

Get a Maytag or Whirlpool if you want great return of investment. Others equally good are Electrolux and Kenmore, esp. Electrolux if you like front load systems. Samsung or LG doesn’t even come close to these in terms of performance and longevity.

I was a big fan of Samsung. The dryer just crapped out. Less than 3 years of household use and the drum cracked. Common issue, hope for a class action lawsuit.
