Really? This is how you do your research? Once you find your bearings you can then use landmarks you set at North or South then reference while traveling. You can use the hour hand to find South based on the median between where the Sun is and 12 o clock on the dial if you are in the northern hemisphere. This is only because you said you were interested to know.
