I have family members working in these mask company in China, many 3-layer masks marked as NOT for medical use because if they marked YES it will take the gov 7-14 days to process more docs before exporting overseas. So back in March~May, many manufacturers chose to mark it non-medical so it can be exported faster, but in fact they are from the same line. I'm not saying healthcare workers shall trust the NON-medical masks but these 3-layer ones are generally better than cloth masks for people going to supermarkets...

These are the medical ones. I tested these and some chinese brands against those from a medical clinic where they have been using for years. Those used in the medical clinic perform worse in both waterproof and electromagnetic tests. Why? A mask is a mask as long as it’s using good non-woven fabric. With COVID19, real manufacturers are making sure they are getting good quality non-woven fabrics except for some fake one which you really need to be careful. The ones sold by Walmart (not third-party seller) are very good. I haven’t tested any from EBay or Amazon so I am not sure if those are good. You buy from Ebay or Amazon, or even Walmart (every sale seemed to be from different manufacturers although they were sold by Walmart), make sure you test them for waterproof/resistance and electromagnetism. //@anonymous: $14.99 should be able to get a box of medical one

Hi! Thanks for sharing your experience. I wanted to share with you that you can get a smaller and better fit by folding the surgical mask in half so that the “insides” touch each other and then tying a knot as close to the mask on each ear loop will cause the mask to taper on both ends and provide a better fit. //@anonymous: I ordered kid's mask at price of $30 a few weeks ago from Home Depot. Toss the adult face mask in the dryer lo heat. The face mask will shrink 10-20%.

The ear loop glue will be destroyed and you'll end up with useless masks! DO NOT apply heat to the masks! //@Anonymous: Toss the adult face mask in the dryer lo heat. The face mask will shrink 10-20%.

You should not place the masks in the dryer to shrink them. High heat will damage the filters, making them useless. Instead, try to make the ear loop shorter by tying them.
