Most of time, you do not need it, your kid also do not need it for high school. But, if your kid takes some AP course, like AP calculus or Statics; you need this calculator to take the AP exam then get the college credit.... //@Anonymous: why do people still use this?

I paid 130 last year, full on rip off. Lucky to have a focused kid, ill spend whatever it takes but the tech in these things is worth 20 bucks tops. They have deals with the sat/ap testing companies so its a monopoly.
