That's how they ensure the computer doesn't last forever with an upgrade. I buy Lenovo ThinkPad T series laptops for my company and hand them over to engineers who are always working outside of the office.
The T410/T420/T430 for example are 5 to 7 years old. Replaced the HDD with a SSD, max out the ram to 8 or 16GB and it's super fast and rock solid. //@Anonymous: Apple product is always like that... //@Anonymous: 256 GB and non-upgradable makes the 27" iMac useless
