Why are these so expensive? It is essentially a printer.

Market share? Fewer people buy these, I assume, which means lower demand to defray overhead. Also, I suspect the ink/toner is of a different, more expensive composition to account for the use, and the mechanisms must handle heavier media. Kind of makes sense to me, though I am no expert in ANY OF THESE FIELDS... //@Anonymous: Why are these so expensive? It is essentially a printer.

all label printers use thermal transfer technology, no ink/toner consumption at all, the thermal transfer has the advantage of low consumable cost and fast printing, but the downside is considerably low printing resolution. And the thermal mechanism dominated most of its cost. This dual printer model should be used in a fast pace environment like takeout counter to double printer efficiency and at this price point, this one is unbeatable //@Anonymous: Market share? NO, I'm sorry to say, UPS shipping label is 4*6" and this model doesn't support that size //@anonymous: can I print a USPS shipping label with this? is the barcode good enough for USPS to read?

Bought this at work. Two hudge disappointments: 1. software compability. Even my LG 34 inch monitor can't display properly and needs a driver, which is not avaiable. A lot other softwares (printer, etc.) need way too much attention 2. Surface pen does not work, even though this is a touch screen.

Just curious, the Mac mini same spec comes to 550$ is the monitor portion worth the extra $1,000? I meant if you buy a decent external monitor would it suffice the experience?

iMac also includes keyboard and mouse. But for me I don't think the screen itself worth the difference in price. //@anonymous: Just curious, the Mac mini same spec comes to 550$ is the monitor portion worth the extra $1,000? And beside keyboard and mouse it also has camera and built in mic. So you don't need peripherals to have a video call. //@anonymous: Just curious, the Mac mini same spec comes to 550$ is the monitor portion worth the extra $1,000? Three years ago I bought "elongated" cartridges for an old Bro printer and inks and it was the best $50 I ever spent. Today I still have half the inks and I think it will last another 3-5 years.
