To clarify: this is not a "true" espresso, in the sense that the extraction pressure is only about 2 atm, as opposed to ~ 10 atm used in espresso machines. But it is a pretty popular and handy tool to make good coffee. I rank it above the drip machines. There are variants where heating of the base is electric, those are usually more expensive. This one is for the stove top.
