yes, you can put an sd card in it but several features like smart detection (people, animals, packages) and whether it displays a still image or short few sec clip depend on paying the $20 a year for Cam+. I love these cameras and I have several that I pay for and others that I don't. I think as the cameras get newer V4+ then you need CAM+ to use them properly. The V3 can work just fine with an SD card if you don't care about smart detection type stuff and full video from the notification.

You may use it, but will keep getting pop up messages about subscription, I throw it away //@anonymous: can this be used without cloud and manual subscriptions. Just by using SD card for storage
