I've been using ThinkPad T series since 2003. Every model lasted more than five years without noticeable performance issue. The only thing I do after 5 fives is to replace the battery and donate the unit or pass it to my kids.

You can still use it because your X230 never used low-temperature solder //@Anonymous: Sadly, you are confusing Gen with Intel Gen. Yes, Intel Gen is i7 13 now, and the unit is i7 12. Please do not mislead potential buyers. Thinkpads are one of the best laptops on the market. I am still using my X230! //@Preparation: The current model is gen 13
