If you don't want to pay subscription, look into getting a sync module, which can take a USB flash drive as storage for all the videos. You can notifications for motions if you armed the cameras.

It takes a few seconds longer to pull videos from the sync module storage, and that's about the difference i am experiencing without the subscription.
