Low barometric air pressure will increase the radon level because the pressure underground is basically constant. When the air pressure reduces, it is easier for the radon to be pushed out into your basement. At radon levels 4 or above, the standard recommendation is that you should consider a remediation system. //@Anonymous: I got one few month ago at Amazon when it was $99. It's very accurate.
My basement number is around 4 to 5 normally. recently the number jump to 20 to 30 after sevarl day's of rain (don't know what's the connection between radon number and rain), I have monitored this after 2 rains. So we decided to have a lab test by ording a test kit from amazon.com. Yes, the result returned, almost the same number. so the meter is accurate. (it's so sad everything is expensive in NJ already, we have to put extra $10 check inside the kit return envelope so that NJ people can have the lab test result!!!)
