Costco has a samsung 27 inch curved for 149. I think that is a pretty good price.

There is another reason: US dollars become cheaper.

Technology always advance at steady speed because of competition. With trade war and covid, sellers no longer competing. They can still jack up the price on ancient monitors instead of slashing prices. While they can make good money on these junks, there is no need to create new products.
