It works! Got a coupon (QR) code from the link and went to a retail store. showed the QR code and ID, received the wireless charger (including power adaptor and cable) for free.

Hmm. This doesn't seem quite honest. The email link that was sent said "HERE’S A B-DAY GIFT FROM US TO YOU!"

Does this work at stores for prepaid customers? Nevertheless, I am able to generate the code as a prepaid customer.

It's one per AT&T Account and Most stores don't have this in stock, You have to an Account holder or Authorised user to claim this Charger. I got one today at the store. The store is notating on the account so that people cannot claim more than once, even if you have more than one line it is one per account.
