I don't think you are supposed to use it for pass through charging, meaning that you can charge your phone from the battery bank while the battery bank is charging? I have not tried this but I assume that it's not a good idea. //@Anonymous: Does passthrough charging work well? I bought one 2 years ago as well. It's slim and easy to carry behind the phone, so I can still walk around as my phone charges. It's only good for one time recharge of the phone.
