Mine was not that expensive about at least 5 years. It’s almost in new shape speaking of the inner pot. If my in law follows my direction, it will be still new. You should dry the outside of the inner pot each time you put it in to cook //@anonymous: Their nonstick coating peels off very soon. And they charge a lot for inner pot only(near$100). Won't purchase this brand again.

I have three rice cookers need inner pan replacements. The inner pan costs more than half the original price, which is annoying //@Anonymous: The inner cooking pan need to be replaced soon, cost another $100

Years ago owned a $150 Zojirushi and a friend of mine bought a $400 Cuckoo. I demanded a competition with the rice species I pick (yes, you should know, the rice you buy just as the flour you buy makes a HUGE difference and that's why their prices can differ by 40 times). Let me say this, we brought the rice cookers for tasting. The moment I tasted his rice, I picked up my cheaper Zojirushi and said: the competition is over -- you won. Does it taste 2x better? No. Is a 5-star hotel stay 2x better than a 4-star hotel? //@Anonymous: What makes this rice cooker $100 more than other type?

Better tasting rice, of course. It also makes the pot very easy to wash. //@Anonymous: What makes this rice cooker $100 more than other type?
