It's the prime example of the benefits of globalization that many don't understand. Such a TV can be sold profitably at $400 because the very large consumer base in China and other countries, so the fixed costs (land, factories, machines etc) can be spread. A TV like this would sell for $8000, an iphone would sell for $5000 in an isolated USA. Yes there'd be a few more blue collar jobs but they'd not be able to afford such "luxuries".

Walmart and Target had 70" for $299 a few weeks ago. This should be 350 or less...
