Residential house is not air sealed and higher MERV rating filter just blocks more air flow from AC/furnace. It may be helpful to decrease particles in air for people with healthy concerns like allergy or breath problems. But it is still cheap to easy the anxiety by comparing few bucks more on utilities with prescriptions.
