While 70% alcohol content can kill many bacteria, a 90% alcohol formula is needed to kill most viruses //@anonymous: CDC recommends hand sanitizer contains at least 60% alcohol

Jan 2020, FDA to Purell: Stop claiming your hand sanitizers eliminate Ebola and the flu //@anonymous: Are you sure? The Purcell I got in January has 70wt%. //@anonymous: all hand gel type sanitizer has ~62-63% alcohol.

62% ethanol, 2% higher than CDC recommendation. Do not be confused by fake news.

Note, ethanol is more effective, volume % wise speaking. From CDC: "60% ethanol and 70% isopropanol"

62% here is good enough. From CDC: “ Hand washing mechanically removes pathogens, while laboratory data demonstrate that 60% ethanol and 70% isopropanol, the active ingredients in CDC-recommended alcohol-based hand sanitizers, inactivates viruses that are genetically related to, and with similar physical properties as, the 2019-nCoV.”

lol. it is the correct amount as stated by CDC. there are 2 different types of alcohol and different % for each. it is the correct amount and effective per the CDC guidelines. //@Anonymous: Be careful. Alcohol% = 62%. Too low.

"CDC recommends the use of alcohol-based hand sanitizers with greater than 60% ethanol or 70% isopropanol as the preferred form of hand hygiene"

Get this only if you don't have any. 62% is not bad. Recommendation for a hand sanitizer is to have have a minimum of 60% alcohol but these days very hard to find the one with higher alcohol percentage.

If soap and water are not available, use an alcohol-based hand sanitizer that contains at least 60% alcohol.
Why? Many studies have found that sanitizers with an alcohol concentration between 60–95% are more effective at killing germs than those with a lower alcohol concentration or non-alcohol-based hand sanitizers 16,20. Hand sanitizers without 60-95% alcohol 1) may not work equally well for many types of germs; and 2) merely reduce the growth of germs rather than kill them outright.
