Please don't make "alternative news" here. Just install a good firewall application and observe what traffic is leaving your machine. I have mine setup which I know every single application trying to communicate outside my machine. I was amazed to see that drivers for MS Mouse is trying to send out communication outbound, locked that down. I got a lenovo G500 6 years ago with intel i7 process for about $600. It is still running great. I had some HP or DELL, which died one year or maximum three years.

I am still looking for some good deals from lenovo. :)
