Zeroing the card is not difficult just go to any store like walmart and buy whatever you need to an amount more than the balance on the card. Use the card for check out and it will empty the card and ask you to pay the remaining. I've been doing this lots of times just some new cashiers might not know how to do it and they don't want to admit it just telling you they can't do it.
