I have the same experience. The only good thing is the warranty. I got the next 4 tires with 60% off because the first four reached 4/32 mark around 32k miles. //@Anonymous: Part 3/3 (had to create a 3rd part due to word limit)
As an example, my current Defender tires purchased May 2015 are rated for 90K miles. I've about 50K on them are they are close to replacement (at 4/32"). How many miles you get is sensitive to the type of driving. More city driving means more stop-go and braking, which mans you'll get less miles. Premium brands like Michelin will never sell the same product with varying quality based on store - it will hurt their brand.

Better go to discount tires. They will beat Costco offer and very courteous. Bad experience with Costco as mentioned by others.

Wrong. I asked warranty from Costco and they denied, said that I didn't go Costco to rotate tires on schedule. I really don't have the patient to wait there couple hours just to rotate the tire once the other month. I rotated myself and I kept the record! //@anonymous: When my Costco tires have a problem, the warranty or insurance always gets honored. Other places always find an excuse to void the warranty or insurance. I will always stick with Costco tires.

We have very bad experience for Michelin tires at Costco Katy, TX. We changed 4 Tires for our Lexus ES350. Dealer said need new tire after 350k miles. We went to Costco and they measured and said one of the tire thread is still greater than 2/32 in. So I have to drive another 5k miles. We decide change Tire without using warranty. //@Anonymous: stop whining start driving fellas..

Part 2/2
I've been a long time DT customer. Nothing against Costco, just not a member since the store is too far from my house. I purchased 4 Michelin Defender tires from DT. The specs on the Costco website are EXACTLY the same as mentioned on the ones sold at DT. I've been with Michelin for past 10 years on all cars in our household. Often I do not get anything close to the rated miles, but DT happily gives me a pro-rated refund when I buy a new set.

Part 1/2
Maybe this will help the discussion. Long story short - Costco's Michelin tires look identical to ones from Discount Tire (DT) and the issue with getting less miles than rated is not unique to Costco.

for those of you saying costco tires wear easily? are you sure these are the same model tires as sold from other retailers? just because you buy the same brand doesn't mean you're getting the same tire. you could be buying the lower end models. //@Anonymous: feel costco tire is easy wear.

installation is free but you have to get the installation package which is $15 per tire.. what is this bs?

you need to rotate your tires every 5k miles to keep the threads. //@Anonymous: if you buy 35K miles tire than you get that much. If you buy 65K miles tires, you will get 70K...all my 4 cars' tires are from costco. //@Anonymous: Same feeling too, from the 4 times experience with Costco tires in last several years. //@anonymous: Same feeling here. My Michelin tires from Costco never lasted more than 35K miles before replacement. I switched to Discount Tires this year for Continental tires. //@Anonymous: feel costco tire is easy wear.

Not necessarily. It's a common suspicion in this country. Walmart sells custom labelled Mobil1 oil at a much lower price than any other but nobody knows if they are technically different, although Mobil states that they are the same. //@Anonymous: that's the dumbest thing I've ever heard. The tires sold by costco are sold at many other stores, and actually have great reviews on third party review sites. //@Anonymous: Their price is much above than the market price and quality is very poor. Pretty sure, Costco have a batch product which must have been very poorly customized.

?diots seem to be all out today. Michelin are the some of the best tires you can buy. If you are going to make stuff up you've got to be believable. //@anonymous: I had an accident due to Michelin tire wire out less than 30,000 miles. //@Anonymous: Same feeling here. You are a super dumb dumb!! This is an exaple how our economy/society ruined. They are selling same brand that dies not mean by same batch and composition. You eat bread every day made by a single factory but labeled several names. //@anonymous: that's the dumbest thing I've ever heard. I like America's tires now. It offers faster service and variety of selection and same warranty like Costco. At Costco you have to stick with the expensive brands and that is it.
