So long as you follow the directions you won't have any problems receiving the rebate. I have done so numerous times over the years with Canon and to date haven't had a negative experience.

Ink is so expensive with this printer that you should enlist your friends/relatives not living with you to buy as many as you can. This being said, you have to have a use for the printer to buy it.

Unless you're printing for archival purposes, aftermarket ink is the way to go. However, printing from a professional lab is the only way to go. Also, If you don't use it regularly the ink and print heads will get funky. In a bad way.
