These are just the speakers and as others mentioned you need a receiving unit that has an amplifier built in. These ones would do amazingly well as the front or rear speakers in a 5.1 audio setup. Bose units come with their own receiver plus speakers and cannot be compared to this bare bones speakers. Makes sense ? These are amazing speakers for the price provided you have the receiver already.
