For what it's worth, I have a few of these "Ultra Fit" style SanDisks or Samsungs. I've not had a problem with them over the past (more than a year of sporadic use serving music), but yes, they DO get hot. So far, it hasn't resulted in any issues in the desktops and cars I've used them in.
