Do we have to have active coverage (Paying for service) for a year in order to unlock the phone? or can we just pay one month, and wait 11 months without the service and then request for the unlock?

Does the phone need to be in service when try to unlock in a year?

A few years ago I unlocked a phone from metro. It was active for 1 month and inactive for 11 months. But again it was samsung and few years back. //@anonymous: Does the phone need to be in service when try to unlock in a year?

Good questions. Anybody knows the answer?

Too much uncertainty, given it won't be unlocked in a year, during which their unlocking policy could change anytime.

365 days unlock policy is already the worst in the industry, can't be worse. Even they change it the new policy cannot apply to purchases already made. //@anonymous: Too much uncertainty, given it won't be unlocked in a year, during which their unlocking policy could change anytime.

Gemini/google AI says: Yes, Metro by T-Mobile requires devices to be active on their service for 365 days after activation to be eligible for an automatic unlock. The phone must not be reported as lost or stolen, and it must have been actively used on their network for that period. //@Anonymous: No //@anonymous: Does the phone need to be in service when try to unlock in a year?

AI mode says a bit differently:
User Reports: Some users suggest that the "drawer trick" (activating and then letting the phone sit without active service) still works for unlocking after the one-year period, while others report that customer support may require active service for the full duration. //@Anonymous: No //@anonymous: Does the phone need to be in service when try to unlock in a year?

After I input port-in number, the price jumped from $0 to $199.99. Is it because my current carrier is already on T-Mobile network?

"drawer trick......still works" vs "customer service MAY require active service for the full duration". You don't need customer service for unlocking it's automatic //@anonymous: AI mode says...

That's a nice deal. I had to get a new (non tmobile) number just to port it out to Metro. Unlock in 1 year but with month of activation if my research is accurate.

The walkietalkie is such a contradictory thing,it got a lot bad reviews and returns, city distance is almost 0.5 mile, somehow it shows soldout

I would think this has more to do with people's unrealistic expectations. It's point to point radio, so it's probably great if you use it in ideal conditions. (No large blocking structures, conflicting signals etc) //@anonymous: The walkietalkie is such a contradictory thing,it got a lot bad reviews and returns, city distance is almost 0.5 mile, somehow it shows soldout

Roku can do AirPlay now (I do it on a 4K stick and our Roku TV) but there's a good 500ms latency. the biggest gripe for ROKU is it can't connect to third-party Bluetooth speakers but only its proprietary ROKU Bluetooth speakers.
