How are these for printing photos? I occassionally used to print on photo paper with my old Canon, and it generally did a pretty good job.

The printer itself is OK, but this model uses expensive ink cartridges that have microchips to prevent you from refilling with generic ink.

You almost have to subscribe to their EZ print refresh service for this printer as it makes more sense from the cost perspective, although for occasional prints it is not bad at all ($2.50 per month for 40 pages).

I think HP LaserJet Pro M283cdw is better. Costco has it with 299 after 100 discount. Last thanksgiving they give $150 off.

I’ve had this printer at my business for about 2.5 years now, about 5 teams a month. Toner is relatively cheap and the monochrome helps a lot since color printers these days won’t work with out all cartridge not empty.

for all these years all the businesses I worked in and visited, the printers were HP, Cannon, Epson. Never saw a single Brothers printer in any business. Why people here say Brothers printer is better?

It depends on what you use it for. For large company that demands heavy duty printers with long term support, you go for the Cannon/HP/Epson. For small scale office or home use, Brothers is arguably more suitable. Brother printer is cheap, but not very good quality. For home office usage and kids course study, maybe it is enough. My Brother printer now can only use the manual paper feed because one plastic component is broken after 7 years. Not worthy to repair. Will replace this printer once the ink is out.
