Not to be pedantic, but "points worth 20% more" is not the same as "save 20%". If your points are worth 20% more then 1 point = $1.20, or equivalently 1 point / $1.20 = 0.833 points per dollar. So it's roughly a 17% discount.

Depending on your Amex card, you may or may not earn membership rewards points.
