The market for portable HDDs has stabilized and the product itself is getting obsolete with portable SSD prices dropping. Most name brand HDDs are quite comparable so it really just comes down to their prices. If you can find a low enough and comfortable price, just go for it. Depending on usage, expect them to fail after sometime 3-5 years.
Common sense with these spinning drives:
Always keep a secondary backup.
Magnets such as your smart speaker, high ended headphones whatever keep it at a distance.
Vibration, heat and proper disconnect plays vital role in longevity of these drives.
I am a photographer and travelled a lot in 2015, 2016 and lost a TB worth of pictures due to above carelessness. Please learn from me.
