I guess I'm too old as I'm not excited by new consoles anymore. I'll continue using my PS4.

One can easily save 100s of dollars by buying preowned games, so paying extra $100 is worth it.

Sony, Microsoft and Nintendo owe big time to COVID-19. There has not been a better time to launch new console during a stay-home/wfh pandemic... and yes I want this PS5 too...

Fist, it is PS4 game compatible. Second, it supports Ultra HD Bluray (like $150 ~ 200 already). Third, it is using 812GB SSD. //@Anonymous: Can someone educate me on why this is so hot?

Those seem like pretty bad reasons.
The PS4 backwards compatible is only for 'select' games, and only on the $499 console
Who watches movies on discs these days
A 1tb ssd is WAY to small for next gen games.
It seems on average games are around 60gb, unless you just play the simple casual games, then why not just get a switch or something, and big release games are over 100gb, just look at black ops 4, 130gb. New games are going to be even bigger in file size so you will probably only be able to have

You should look into the reason the hard drive is so small though. 5+ tb/s read speed which is faster than the newest and fastest m.2gen 4 drives available for consumer PCs

My understanding is that they tested compatibility on thousands of games and the backward compatibility is like 99% of the games. They also claimed the PS4 digital version from play store will also work on PS5, so you do not necessary need to have 499 version if you are always preferring digital. However, I don't know the accuracy of the news unless the product is out. I do watch Ultra HD Bluray by discs. I think they are too big for streaming.

5+ TB/sec... you should look in to actual specs and not wherever you are getting your information. It looks like it should be getting at best 9GB/sec. Granted that is very fast but I would rather be able to have more than 10 games on my system without having to fight for space and have my game load slightly slower. Storage is relatively cheap, I would much rather pay for 5TB of storage than a 1TB ultra fast drive. Most people will end up having to install their games on external drives meaning that fancy internal drive is more or less useless except for the 10 games you have installed on it.

lol 5TB/Sec. I'd be very impressed if it could read/write its entire drive 5 times in 1 second. Pretty sure your confused with GB/Sec. Big deal, slap a couple m.2 drives together in Raid0 and you are faster than that. (Probably what PS5 is doing)
So you have few games you can load really quick and the rest you are having to load off an external USB. I would rather have 5TB storage that loads a bit slower than an ultra fast drive only for a select few games.

Your right about the gb/s typo, but slapping two 875 Gen 4 M.2s would cost you about $250, hence the value here. You may be thinking of Gen 3 which can be had for about half that.
