I bought this last time and it had peeling chrome residue when you touch the metal.. cheaply made moka pot.. A better one is the Bialetti - made in Italy

also, don't put it in the dishwasher (at least not the bigger aluminum parts), the shiny layer goes away. even for the bialetti. i suppose it says that in the documentation, but i didn't rtfm at the time :) sharing so others don't mess up their pot. //@andromeda3: I bought this last time and it had peeling chrome residue when you touch the metal.. cheaply made moka pot.. I would assume you are mistaken about the “chrome” residue since this is aluminum. It’s stamped, low priced, and would appear to just work as it should according to other reviewers. Clean it thoroughly before use is what you could have said. //@andromeda3: I bought this last time and it had peeling chrome residue when you touch the metal.. cheaply made moka pot.. This is not espresso, despite the name. I'm not saying it's bad, but it's just not espresso. //@Anonymous: if you enjoy strong espresso, this is the best utensil to have.

Moka pot coffee is not espresso indeed, it is extracted at up to 2 bar, whereas espresso needs at least 9 bar. Should I say, sub-espresso? It does hint at espresso, and it can be strong. Gateway drug to be sure.
