I've always used Dell and my boyfriend uses Lenovo. He recently purchased the Lenovo flexibook and I got a surface pro, and I gotta say, both machines are fantastic (but the Lenovo is much cheaper).
However, both Dell and Lenovo have bad customer service. They both would fix our issues and complains eventually, but both take extremely long time. I've no experience with Microsoft yet.

I haven't had to use Dell customer service often, but when I did the service was great and very polite. //@Anonymous: I've always used Dell and my boyfriend uses Lenovo. We've purchased several computers from the two brands each, and both, at some point, had to send the computers back for repair. For my Dell, it took a long time to receive it back; for my boyfriend's Lenovo, it took an even longer time, but he got a new upgraded computer back. Both services are always polite, and we got a satisfactory result in the end, but they did both take a long time.
And I also remember about 10 years ago a friend of mine owned a Sony laptop, and she also had to send it in for repair. In the end Sony sent it to the wrong address and never notified her. So she just lost that laptop. I guess none of these customer service is perfect, especially if you're unlucky. //@anonymous: I haven't had to use Dell customer service often, but when I did the service was great and very polite. //@Anonymous: I've always used Dell and my boyfriend uses Lenovo. Dell customer service has improved a lot. Remove customer service has always been terrible. Lenovo product quality has dropped. The most recent two laptops I bought from Lenovo both run into hardware issues. Both took a hassle to get service from Lenovo. According to lenovo's on-site technician, the replacement laptop is not new. it looks new, they tell you it is new, but the parts inside can come from returned laptops. Ordinary people couldn't tell. //@anonymous: We've purchased several computers from the two brands each, and both, at some point, had to send the computers back for repair.
