It's the prime example of the benefits of globalization that many don't understand. Such a TV can be sold profitably at $400 because the very large consumer base in China and other countries, so the fixed costs (land, factories, machines etc) can be spread. A TV like this would sell for $8000, an iphone would sell for $5000 in an isolated USA. Yes there'd be a few more blue collar jobs but they'd not be able to afford such "luxuries".

JBL Flip speaker price not really comparable to Amazon...Amazon version is 99.99 but comes with hardshell case, which appears to cost about $14 or so. Not a bad deal, but not as good as it appears.
